The non-life insurer BTA Baltic Insurance Company (BTA), which operates with branches in Lithuania and Estonia, posted a profit of 9.664 million euros in the first nine months of this year, which is 6.2% more than in the corresponding period last year, according to the information published by the company.
In gross insurance premiums BTA underwrote a total of 262.874 million euros in the Baltics in the first nine months of 2025, which is 9.9% more than in the first nine months of last year, while in gross claims the company paid out 135.793 million euros, an increase of 3%.
In Latvia, BTA underwrote 80.886 million euros in gross insurance premiums in the first nine months of this year, which is 7.3% more than a year earlier, while it paid out 43.126 million euros in claims, a decrease of 14.8%.
In the first nine months of this year BTA underwrote the largest amount of gross premiums in motor third party liability insurance, including compulsory motor third party liability (OCTA) insurance – 66.243 million euros, which is 2.1% less than in the first nine months of 2024. This is followed by motor (KASKO) insurance, with premiums underwritten of 60.786 million euros, 12.9% more, and health insurance – 45.19 million euros, an increase of 12%.
In Latvia, in the first nine months BTA underwrote the largest amount of gross premiums in health insurance – 26.654 million euros, which is 12.4% more than in the corresponding period a year earlier. This is followed by KASKO insurance, with 17.093 million euros in premiums underwritten, 9.5% more, and property insurance – 15.254 million euros, an increase of 12.2%.
Also in claims in the first nine months of this year BTA in the Baltics paid out the most in motor third party liability insurance, including OCTA insurance – 42.956 million euros, which is 9.9% more than a year earlier. This is followed by KASKO insurance, with 34.526 million euros paid in claims, an increase of 7.3%, and health insurance – 29.794 million euros, 24.6% more.
In Latvia, in the first nine months of 2025 BTA paid out the most claims in health insurance – 16.952 million euros, which is 15.3% more than in the corresponding period last year. This is followed by KASKO insurance with 9.706 million euros paid in claims, 6.3% less, and property insurance – 7.207 million euros, 54.8% less.
In the first nine months of 2024 BTA’s profit was 9.098 million euros, while last year as a whole the company operated with a profit of 7.74 million euros.
The sole owner of BTA is Vienna Insurance Group.
