The company SIA Unistock, which provides archive services, has received a 3.9 million euro loan from Banka Citadele for the purchase of the historic, office-adapted building at 11 Raiņa Boulevard in Riga.
The new owner – Australian citizen Pavel Kurilov – does not intend to change the use of the building. The building will retain its current function – it will continue to be a rental building for various offices and services. At present it is fully leased, and all premises are already in use. This continuity will be maintained. If circumstances change, in the future part of the premises may be used for Unistock’s needs. Consultations are being held with architects on possibilities to restore the historical layout of the premises. Reconstruction work will not start earlier than in one or two years. The building’s facade will remain unchanged, preserving the existing appearance of the cityscape.
“For Citadele, it is important to support stable and sustainable transactions that help preserve and develop Riga’s historic urban environment. This financing will allow the building at 11 Raiņa Boulevard to continue successfully serving the needs of tenants and city residents, while preserving its historical significance and architectural value,” says Management Board member and Head of Corporate Client Management in the Baltics Vaidas Žagūnis.
It should be added that despite the noble goals postulated by the banks, obtaining a mortgage loan outside Riga and the Riga metropolitan area is almost impossible. To give people such an opportunity to purchase real estate in the regions, Latvia turned to the European Commission and requested that the Ministry of Economics be allowed to issue loans. Permission was received and funds for this purpose have already been earmarked – 250 million. This will allow at least 33,000 households to receive loans of up to 74,000 euros for 30 years.
Unistock was founded in 1991 and has been operating for more than 30 years. The company ended 2024 with a turnover of 2.25 million euros and a profit of 0.42 million. The company is a leading provider of archive services in Latvia. The company offers a wide range of archive services, including document storage, processing, destruction and digitization. It is also one of three private archives accredited by the Latvian National Archives.
